what is Transpersonal hypnotherapy?
Transpersonal Hypnotherapy is an approach to working with the innate goodness and intelligence of our true nature. We begin with this in mind and utilize the flexibility and versatility of our consciousness to create beneficial change in our lives. We keep what is genuinely helpful and gently release or transform what is not.
Transpersonal Hypnotherapy acknowledges that the problems we experience are often rooted in unhelpful "waking trance states". These trance states are basically untrue beliefs about who and what we are. They commonly come from messages received when we were young that we decided were true. For example, a child is told they will never succeed as an artist, that they are lazy, uncoordinated, etc. and to the degree that they buy into this, so it becomes their life experience... until it changes.
Other kinds of trance states arise from various traumas and simply living in this or that particular culture. These various belief and suppressed trauma states can make it difficult to access new and healthy solutions to life's ever changing circumstances.
What to expect during a hypnotherapy session
During sessions, people typically experience deep states of relaxation and spacious awareness. These states, of themselves, can be deeply healing and beneficial. As we become more familiar with these natural states, we often gain access to powerful inner resources, the ability to release limiting beliefs, and the arising of helpful insights and new perspectives.
The experience of transpersonal hypnotherapy is different for everyone and each time is new and reflective of what we are most needing in the moment. At the conclusion of a typical session, we will often have effective tools for personal growth that can be used well into the future.
It's useful to note that moving into altered states of awareness is a natural skill that improves with practice. Many people find that the use of Transpersonal Hypnotherapy is easier than many approaches to meditation. With practice, what I refer to as hypnosis and meditation begin to blend effortlessly offering us ever expanding and more subtle states of awareness. Through a kind of play and exploration of awareness, we begin to move beyond the struggle of trying to fix inner and outer conflicts.
